Chimneys and fire pits allow us to create a gathering place so we can enjoy the evening warmth and light outdoors. They are designed to burn wood and have a good time. A fire pit is made by campfire tradition. Normally it is in order to sit in a circle to be able to better interact with what I know they meet. A fireplace naturally creates the effect of an outdoor living room. The area requirements for this project work well when you have an open area that is naturally sheltered from the wind, because there is no chimney to exhaust the smoke. Fire pits require a large clear area because there is no firebox or chimney to contain the errant sparks raised by the wind. An outdoor fireplace takes up vertical space, but does not require the same open area and clearances as a fire pit.
